When looking at other people's photos I find myself imagining how the photo was taken and I'm sometimes surprised that they thought to frame the shot in a certain way. The best way to explain it is with a photo, so take a look at this beautiful, but not ordinary sunset. I imagine that he saw a beautiful sunset, but knew that Yet Another Sunset Photo would be boring, so he found the shell, got down on the ground and composed that scene. The trick is that you don't find yourself laying on the ground with that scene in front of you -- you have to see it in your mind and go find it.

I'm fascinated by these sorts of shapes and angles so this shot composed itself in my mind without much conscious assistance. I've always instinctively seen shots like this, so I'm trying to teach myself to experiment more with other types of framing.
