public market
I like the public market in Seattle for the people, the architecture, and the general chaotic, lively spirit. I like the cobbles on the road, the funny stickers in the leftist bookstore. The chilli peppers hanging on strings, the catholic candles and the huge variety of hot sauces in that shop near the middle. I'm a huge fan of hot food, but I didn't buy the hot sauce -- I got a crazy black candle in a jar instead. Corre Diablo Corre. I like watching the seafood sellers singing and shouting while a huge crowd surrounds them, I like watching while someone tries to drive an SUV over the bumpy cobbles and through the crowd of people walking across the narrow road while someone else has stopped their car on the road. I like watching someone with a huge bouquet of flowers because I wonder who they'll give them to. I like sitting on the second-floor balcony of the restaurant on a warm, sunny day to watch all this, eat good food and sip on sangria. Victoria needs a public market like this.
