mimosa

mimosa

At a great wedding last weekend, there were plants on the dinner tables that the couple had grown themselves. As soon as I saw this one I was excited because I used to have a mimosa plant years ago, and I was even happier at the end of the night when they gave all the plants away. The really neat thing about this plant is that the leaves fold up when the plant is disturbed. The leaves also fold up a night -- it's as if the plant is going to sleep. The shot on the left has the leaves expanded and the shot on the right was taken after I touched some leaves to make them fold up.
